Round 1 · Entrepreneur's Monopoly

How it works.

Riddles unlock pieces, pieces build a face, and the face is a founder. 3 days, 600 minutes a day, 3 founders a day. The top 6 go to Round 2.

When it runs

The game opens once a day, at the same time, for 600 minutes. Everyone plays in the same window. When it closes, that day's founders are revealed to everyone, with your result on each.

Day 2Mon, 26 Oct8:00 pm – 6:00 am3 founders
Day 3Tue, 27 Oct8:00 pm – 6:00 am3 founders

Riddles

You work on one riddle at a time. Each one is drawn at random from a vault of 300 (120 easy, 100 medium, 80 hard), so the player next to you has different riddles, and you never get the same riddle twice across all 3 days.

  • Everyone gets the same mix of difficulty, in the same order, repeating: Easy, Easy, Medium, Easy, Medium, Hard.
  • Type your answer. Capitals, spaces, punctuation and a small typo in a long word don't matter. Numbers can be written as digits.
  • A wrong answer costs 2 points. After 3 wrong answers the riddle is lost: you see the answer, get a new riddle, and no piece.
  • You can skip a riddle for 5 points, 5 times a day. You see the answer.

Pieces

Each founder's portrait is cut into 20 pieces. A right answer reveals one piece of the founder you have selected (the tabs above the portrait), so you choose where each piece goes. Pieces come out in rounds: the edges of the face first, the eyes last.

Naming a founder

Tap Name them under the portrait whenever you think you know who it is, once at least 1 piece is showing. The fewer pieces showing, the bigger the bonus. A correct name reveals the whole portrait for you, and that founder is done.

  • 3 guesses per founder. Each wrong name costs 40 points. After the last one, that founder locks for you.
  • The full name or the surname both work, and a small spelling slip is forgiven.

Scoring

Easy · medium · hard riddle+10 · +20 · +30
Speed bonus: full within 15 s, gone after 60 sup to +50%
Naming a founder+500 − 30 per piece showing (at least +20)
Wrong riddle answer · skip−2 · −5
Wrong name−40
Every riddle you solve is worth about the same as the bonus you lose by revealing one more piece. So the race is really about speed and nerve: crack riddles fast, and name the face as soon as you dare. Points can go below zero. The leaderboard ranks by points; on a tie, whoever reached the score first ranks higher.

Fair play

  • One account per person. Duplicate accounts are disqualified.
  • No outside help: no reverse image search, no searching riddles online, no sharing answers. Everyone's riddles are different anyway.
  • The organisers check the top of the leaderboard before announcing the 6 finalists.
